Electric Bento was on hand for the star-studded gala Arizona Red Carpet premiere of Sony Pictures newest release, Only the Brave.
The premiere, hosted by Harkins Theatres at their Tempe Marketplace theater on October 10th , featured the film’s director Joseph Kosinski (Tron: Legacy), producers Lorenzo di Bonaventura (Four Brothers, G.I. Joe, Transformers franchise), Molly Smith, Thad and Trent Luckinbill (La La Land, Sicario, Soldado), stars Josh Brolin (Sicario), Miles Teller (Whiplash) and James Badge Dale (13 Hours), and Arizona-native singer-songwriter Dierks Bentley. The film was written by Ken Nolan (Black Hawk Down) and Eric Warren Singer (American Hustle), based on the GQ article, “No Exit” by Sean Flynn. The film also stars Jeff Bridges who previously worked with Mr. Kosinski on Tron: Legacy, Jennifer Connelly, Taylor Kitsch and Andie McDowell.
The story is centered around the Granite Mountain Hotshots and their determination to be recognized as a Hotshot Wildfire Crew, something that had not previously been accomplished by a municipal fire crew. While fighting the Yarnell Hill fire outside Prescott, AZ in 2013, 19 of the 20-man crew was overcome by the blaze. It was one of the worst losses of life due to fire on record, devastating the state and the community they valiantly protected. The lone survivor, Brendan McDonough served as a technical consultant to the film, ensuring its authenticity. He was on hand for the Arizona premiere as well.
The production filmed on location outside Santa Fe, NM and was able to obtain pickup shots from Whiskey Row in Prescott. Dierks Bentley wrote and produced an original song for the film, ‘Hold the Light’. The song features S. Carey. The story behind the song can be viewed here.
Budweiser was on hand to donate $20,000 to the Granite Mountain Fund
