I know that I am a little behind on these Diamond series reviews, but let’s just say that I didn’t really know what happened during the holidays, it’s like they didn’t exist at all outside of work. But collectors were granted a new figure – a sitting Stitch covered in glitter. Boring.
Now, I know that I have been harsh on other Diamond Series PoP! figures, but this is literally the same model as the original Stitch figure released years ago, only now covered in glitter. I absolutely adore Stitch and everything that involves him, but this is even beyond enjoyment for me. I may be biased because I think the Diamond Series is a waste of time and money for us collectors, but at least past ones have been in different positions and the whole thing hasn’t been covered in glitter. I mean, Snow White’s hair and dress were glittered but not her face or hands. It made sense to have those parts glittered. But Stitch’s whole body? I feel like this is how the conversation went at Headquarters.
Worker: “Boss, we need another Diamond Series PoP! for Hot Topic, but the holidays are coming up. What do we do?”
Boss: “What would be a good Disney Character?”
Worker: “Stitch. Everyone loves an Alien.”
Boss: “Brilliant. We take Stitch and we dunk him in glitter. Then throw a price label of $15 on it and we will sell all of them.”
Collectors, this isn’t worth it. Even for myself as a huge fan of Stitch and all things Disney. The Diamond Series as a whole just isn’t worth it. If you want a Stitch for your collection, there is also an exclusive Aloha Stitch who is wearing a Hawaiian shirt and holding a coconut drink who is much more interesting. Find him and he will enhance your collection and also not get you covered in glitter, so a double win.
