In an effort to broaden the festival experience, extend film education and support local communities, the Phoenix Film Foundation announced earlier this year that a new fall film festival, Peoria Film Fest would take place in Peoria, AZ, a growing suburb on the northwestern part of the Valley of the Sun. Our original article is linked below.
The newly – minted festival gives the Foundation the opportunity to continue its mission to share the wealth in independent and mainstream films, offering opportunities to see films that might not normally make it to the Valley of the Sun.
PEORIA, AZ, Wednesday September 19 – The Phoenix Film Foundation and Phoenix Film Festival are excited to announce the first round of films that will be playing at the Peoria Film Fest including:
- Magnolia Pictures’ Cannes Winner for Best Actor and Oscar contender, “Dogman”
- “White Tide: The Legend of Culebra,” a Cocaine Treasure Hunt documentary from the Tribeca Film Festival
- “Number 37,” a Hitchcock-esque thriller
- The Festival Premiere of “Point Defiance” starring Derek Phillips and Josh Crotty
The Peoria Film Fest will be held October 19 -21 at the beautifully renovated Harkins Arrowhead Fountains 18, screening a mix of independent and upcoming studio releases.
You can stay up to date on the festival at peoriafilmfest.com
We had the opportunity to see “Number 37” at South by Southwest earlier this year and it is dynamite. Be sure to check it out and then read our interview with director, Nosipho Dumisa.
We also had the opportunity to recently enjoy the renovated Harkins Arrowhead Fountains and just like the Phoenix Film Festival’s Harkins Scottsdale 101, the Arrowhead Fountains theater is ready to receive festival goers over the weekend of October 19 – 21.
Keep an eyeball peeled to www.electricbento.com for more information and schedule updates as they occur. We’ll also try and get a few words from festival director, Jason Carney in the next few weeks.
