Glass, the sequel to Split and a continuation of 2000’s Unbreakable finally has a trailer, which dropped during the annual San Diego Comic Con. Glass will hit theaters, January, 2019.
If history is any indicator, superheroes come in all shapes and sizes. One could easily flip through the pages of a worn comic book, seeing their heroes and villains go toe to toe; fighting for justice in their own way. Someone else witnesses their heroic acts on a Saturday morning cartoon. The belief in these heroes is in the nobility that there is good in this world. Yet we know that in order for good to surface bad elements must be removed.
In 2016, M. Night Shyamalan reignited the passion for superheroes in his Universal Pictures hit, Split. Now, Unbreakable stars Bruce Willis and Samuel L. Jackson join him for their next adventure. James McAvoy reprises his multiple-personality role of Kevin Wendell Crumb from Split along with Willis and Jackson. This film also stars Anna Taylor-Joy, Sarah Paulson, and Spencer Treat Clark.
Glass will complete a trilogy that has been long rumoured since the release of Unbreakable in 2000 and in six short months, our horrors, fantasies and dreams will come crashing down as David Dunn (Willis) chases Crumb (McAvoy).
The trailer does not reveal much at all, giving a number of action sequences, and some terror. Two favorite quotes have come out of this trailer: “What do you call yourself?” “First name, Mister. Last Name, Glass.” and “This is not a cartoon. This is the real world.”
Bruce Willis can still deliver after all these years (Death Wish is a good example if you take the story out of the picture.) Samuel L. Jackson is always fun to watch on the screen. He has a quiet presence and I’m looking forward to the return of his character. James McAvoy was absolutely brilliant in Split and I’m looking forward to where M. Night takes us next. Whatever he has in store for us, it’s going to be fun.
From Universal Pictures, Glass is in theaters January, 2019.
