I can’t believe the multiplayer beta for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare is almost here! Ahead of the impending launch of next months beta, Activision and Infinity Ward have released a fresh batch of multiplayer footage showing off a handful of different modes. The new footage was captured on a PlayStation 4 Pro, in 4K resolution across 5 different modes, and 5 different maps. The night variant shown in the footage is probably the most exciting, as it should provide some drastically different environmental interactions than before.
We had the chance to check out Call of Duty: Modern Warfare at E3 this year, and the campaign looks poised to be the most ambitious in a long time. Tense tactical moments replace some of the large explosive setpieces, and a new engine helps some game mechanics like bullet penetration.
There’s still time to preorder Call of Duty: Modern Warfare before it launches on October 25th. The beta launches next month on September 12th for PlayStation 4 for those that preorder, and a couple days later in open beta for PlayStation 4. It will be available for all platforms in early access from September 19-20 for all platforms, and an open beta on all platforms from September 21-23.
It’s important to note that Call of Duty: Modern Warfare will be the first Call of Duty to feature cross-play between platforms. While Activision has said that those with controllers will play together, so mouse and keyboard players don’t have an advantage, it remains to be seen what will happen when a controller player wants to play with a friend who has it for PC.
The new footage can be seen below, so be sure to check that out before you click away. For the latest on Call of Duty: Modern Warfare be sure to stick with us as we get closer to launch, and next month for full impressions of the PlayStation 4 beta.
