Ahead of Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot’s launch next Friday, Bandai Namco have revealed how players should expect to customize and unlock new abilities in the action RPG. There will be several different ways that players can increase their character’s skills in Kakarot. Naturally, as an RPG, players should expect to level up to unlock new abilities and increase their stats. That’s just the tip of the progression iceberg though.
Fans of Dragon Ball know of the legendary Saiyan appetite. Players can cook meals on the go, find restaurants, or even return home for Chi Chi to cook them full course meals. Every piece of food you eat in Kakarot has provides you with a temporary buff, but will also increase base stats. It’s important to remember to eat in Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot, and the game’s systems reinforce that with every meal. Additional recipes and ingredients can be found around the world to help in Goku’s hunt for food.
Different types of Z orbs are scattered around the world, which can be used to unlock slots and power up already acquired attacks, or unlock new ones. The skill tree shown off in the new trailer, which can be seen below, seems rather large, so it looks like players will have their hands full making choices in Kakarot. Finally, no Dragon Ball Z arc would be complete without an intense training regimen. Players will find D Medals around the world to unlock new training regimens, and can fight against other Z warriors, or even themselves to level up and acquire new attacks.
Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot is shaping up to be the action RPG Dragon Ball fans have deserved for a long time, and should be an incredible entry in the franchise when it launches next Friday on January 17th.
