A fresh announcement from Tokyo Game Show from Bandai Namco has revealed a new trailer for Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot as well as the game’s pending release date. The upcoming title breaks away from the usual fighter and brawler formula, and opts for an open world action-RPG that is touted as the most expansive retelling of Goku’s story. Also announced today was that there will be a standard, deluxe, ultimate, and collector’s edition of the title.
As of right now, we know the collector’s edition will retail for $199.99, and come with the game, a steelbook, a large diaroma statue, and a full hardcover artbook. Anything else has yet to be announced. The inclusion of the Buu saga was confirmed today as well, which can be seen in the new trailer below. We’re pretty excited for Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot, and had a great time playing it at E3 2019.
We thought that “Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot nails the combat. Unlike titles like Jump Force, which often devolved in a button mashing mess, Kakarot mainly makes the player feel in control. These are familiar characters with a familiar moveset, and there is a clear love for the source material from the developers.”
After the last few years of Xenoverse titles and FighterZ , I’m excited to finally get more hands on time with an action-RPG formula. Luckily, we don’t have long to wait, as Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot launches January 17th, 2020, adding another game to the now busy “early 2020” time slot. Be sure to stick with us as we get closer to launch over the next few months as more info comes rolling in, and be sure to check out the new trailer below.
