Earlier today, Techland revealed that the previously unreleased Dying Light 2 footage that was shown off at E3 and will be shown off at Gamescom next week will be publicly released on August 26th. The demo, which is nearly a half an hour long shows how deep the choice and consequence system is, and how the player can directly affect the world around them.
The new footage will be available to see on Techland’s social media channels, which include Twitch, Facebook, and Steam. It will be available on August 26th at 11 am PDT or 2 PM EDT. We got to check out the demo at E3 2019, and thought that the amount of choices and how the affect the world was very impressive, and is a love letter from the studio to the open world genre. According to the developers, by the time players finish the campaign, they’ll have seen only 50% of the content available in Dying Light 2.
This is a “Modern Dark Ages,” where factions patrol the city by day, and the undead rule the city by night. Dying Light 2’s Aiden will see different enemy types and areas based on decisions he makes throughout the campaign, and utilize a large number of revamped parkour moves to traverse the world. This is a follow up that takes place years after the first title, moving away from the previous protagonist to a new character with new people to interact with. More than anything, I’m excited for everyone else to see why Dying Light 2 was one of the best games I saw at E3 this year, because it deserves everyone’s attention when it launches in Spring 2020. Stay tuned with us for more coverage as it comes in.
Dying Light 2 launches Spring 2020 for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC. Preorders are available here.
