Following yesterday’s announcement of the all new Alcatraz map being added to the Blackout rotation for Call of Duty: Black Ops 4, Activision has made the popular mode free for the next month.
This doesn’t mean players get the most basic version of Blackout to play, either. The free trial access for Blackout includes both the original map, as well as the Alcatraz map. Players will be able to play solos, duos, and squads for the duration of the free access period, which ends on April 30th. The new map is available as of today for all Playstation 4 owners, and will be available probably after a week when the Playstation exclusive content window expires. Check out the new trailer below, and stay tuned to Electric Bento for full coverage of upcoming updates on Call of Duty: Black Ops 4.
Per Press Release:
Beginning today through April 30, Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 Blackout is available to play for free on PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC. In addition, check out the map briefing for Alcatraz, where Treyarch studio design director David Vonderhaar and producer Miles Leslie break down all the ins and outs of the new battle royale map via the trailer below.
Blackout Free Access features all the intense action from Black Ops 4’s battle royale game mode, with both the original Blackout map that brings together characters, locations, weapons and gear from across the series, all in the biggest map in franchise history, as well as the brand-new Alcatraz map (Alcatraz map live today on PS4 with other platforms to follow).
During the Free Access window, fans will be matchmade with all Blackout players, and be able to play in solos, duos and quads. All progression made will be saved and transferred if players choose to upgrade to a full version of the game.
