Despite not launching until sometime next year, Bandai Namco have revealed the full opening cinematic for the upcoming RPG Digimon Survive. It’s been almost a year since its announcement, and details are still light, but we do know the title is a celebration of 20 years of Digimon.
This new adventure is set in a mysterious world that doesn’t line up with the rest of the Digimon timeline. Because of this, this allows players to discover the world of Digimon with the rest of the characters. According to the description released by Bandai Namco, this title follows a group of teenagers led by Takuma Momozuka as they get lost on a school camping trip and find themselves transported to a strange world of monsters and danger.
As they fight their way back home through a 3D world of difficult decisions and deadly battles, players’ choices throughout the game will impact the evolution of their monster allies, and the final ending. The new trailer debuted at Anime Expo 2019 during the “Future of Digimon” panel, and shows off a ton of new characters for players to make choices with as they shape their adventure.
Digimon Survive was initially scheduled to be released this year, but a delay forced the title back until 2020. The new opening animation introduces most of the human characters that players will interact with in the game, and is described as a “strategy survival RPG,” but exactly what the entails is yet to be seen. Check out the new trailer below, and stay tuned with us as Bandai Namco drops new info on Digimon Survive between now and launch. Until then though, Bandai Namco will be releasing Code Vein in September, so stay tuned for full coverage on that to tide you over.
Digimon Survive launches sometime next year for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PC, and Nintendo Switch. Preorders are available here.
