During the Xbox E3 Briefing this afternoon, Techland returned to E3 with a fresh new trailer for Dying Light 2. Initially announced at E3 2018, the sequel to one of the best zombie experiences on the current generation of consoles is set to release for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC in Spring of 2020.
Since Xbox was showcasing a ton of third party titles, the 2019 Xbox Briefing was a great place to show off the new, infected protagonist Aiden and all of his parkour skills. Set 15 years after the events of Dying Light, factions fight for power while the undead hide in buildings during the day and roam the streets at night.
Also announced today is that composer Olivier Deriviere will be creating the score for Dying Light 2. Deriviere is the mind behind the scores for A Plague Tale: Innocence, Vampyr, Remember Me, and Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag – Freedom Cry. The score from the trailer and the upcoming E3 demo was developed by the composer, so his work on the game seems substantial so far.
We’ll be getting a closer look at Dying Light 2 this week once E3 begins in earnest, and look forward to seeing what Techland has in store for the open world zombie RPG. Recently announced was that Techland will be publishing Dying Light 2, but the title will be distributed by Square Enix here in the Americas.
Dying Light was an incredibly creative take on both open world, and zombie gameplay. While the announcement for the sequel last year kind of came out of nowhere, I’m very excited it’s on the way. We’re on the ground here at E3 this week, so stay tuned for full thoughts on the upcoming E3 demo, as well as future updates on tons of titles throughout the week. Dying Light 2 launches Spring 2020 for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC. Check out the new trailer below, and stick with us throughout the week!
