If there’s one genre I wasn’t expecting John Wick to head up, it’s a strategy game, but here we are. John Wick Hex is coming to consoles and PC, and is currently in development by Mike Bithell. For those not in the know, Bithell was the developer of indie classics Thomas was Alone and Volume. When thinking of a John Wick game, most people probably think of something more like the incredible Superhot, especially the VR version. For a methodical killer like John Wick, maybe it isn’t all that crazy for a strategy game though.
John Wick Hex is an original story, developed with input from the story creators from the movies. Almost no real information is known about the title, other than that it’s currently in development, and the snippets of game details that can be derived from the trailer that can be seen below. Both Ian McShane and Lance Reddick will lend their voices, according to The Hollywood Reporter, with more voice actors set to be announced at a later time.
The creative teams working on the movie are also assisting on development, to make sure that John Wick Hex has the same “gun-fu” feel that the movies do. There seems to be a lot of love and passion for the franchise being poured into this game, which is wonderful to see as we’re huge fans of the films.
Additionally, we’ll have our full review of John Wick 3: Parabellum up over the weekend, so be sure to check back for that late in the week. Until then though, check out the new trailer below, and see all the “gun-fu” action players will be able to perform once they’re finally able to get their hands on John Wick Hex. Check back with us as well as we inevitably get more information on the upcoming title from Mike Bithell.
