It was only a matter of time before an all new map launched for Call of Duty: Black Ops 4’s popular Blackout mode; today, Treyarch and Activision announced Alcatraz.
The new Blackout Alcatraz map is set on a fog filled island with several new locations for players to drop into and loot to survive. While we won’t have a peek at the map until it launches tomorrow for Playstation 4, the map is said to have a mix of close range fights and long distance battles. This map while launch in addition to the current Blackout map, which has been updated with several new major areas since launch. Much like the previous one, players should expect a wide range of weapons, attachments, and gadgets to use, as well as zombies roaming certain areas.
Playstation 4 players will get a first look at the map, which launches tomorrow, while Xbox One and PC players will have to wait probably a week longer, as stipulated by Sony’s one week exclusive early access. When Black Ops 4 first launch, we thought the new Blackout mode had “incredibly fluid movement, and the gunfights were fast paced and diverse.” Adding to the diversity will be the new map, allowing players a new opportunity to land and survive. I’ve stepped away from Black Ops 4 for a while, but this is a great reason for anyone else who has stepped away to jump back in.
Per Press Release:
The new Blackout Alcatraz map is set in a fog-filled island boasting a variety of environments that all lead up to the big cellhouse atop the hill. Requiring new strategies and tactics, players will drop in, gear up and fight through both close-quarters combat and long-range exterior firefights as they battle to be the last squad standing.
Alcatraz is launching in addition to the original Blackout map, so players will have two distinct maps to choose from when jumping into the mode.
