In April, Snapchat launched its own equivalent of Facebook Games called Snap Games. Naturally, any new gaming platform needs a killer app to get players on board. Zynga has just launched a serious contender for that title with Tiny Royale for Snap Games. As you might expect, Tiny Royale brings the popular large-scale multiplayer battle royale experience to Snapchat users.
Given that Snap Games are designed for quick pick-up-and-play experience rather than pushing a mobile device’s graphical hardware, Tiny Royale is a top-down twin-stick shooter rather than a more graphically complex third-person shooter like Fortnite Battle Royale. Players select from multiple custom characters and then participate in up to 30-player large-scale games. These games proceed quite similarly to big-screen battle royale titles, with players collecting weapons and health packs on a shrinking map, shooting it out with other players until only one player or team remains.
Rounds in Tiny Royale last for two minutes, making them perfect for quick games between chatting with friends. And of course, chatting is a big part of the experience as well. Players can enter multiplayer games solo or in squads of up to four players. From there, they can seamlessly communicate with their friends through either text or voice-based chat during gameplay. You even launch the game through Snapchat’s messaging feature, so it’s a natural extension of what Snapchat already provides.
Later this summer, an exciting new feature will come to the game called Tiny Royale Leagues. The leagues feature will place players in groups of 100, broken down into tiers, and then allow them to compete for trophies and rewards, which is great incentive. Keep checking back with us, because we’ll be keeping players updated on future content for Tiny Royale as it becomes available to gamers.
