The Season of The Outlaw has ended Destiny 2 fans. Players have been through the gamut of emotions with the release of the acclaimed Forsaken expansions. Revenge was claimed for the murder of the beloved Cayde-6, that is still weighing on the hearts and minds of many. A whole new world of the ever changing Dreaming City was opened up to Guardians with all of it’s mystery, troves of lore and yet many, many secrets. Riven, the last of the wish granting Ahamkara Dragons was discovered in the heart of the city and defeated in the new raid Last Wish. And this is just a very brief summary of the last few months.
This week begins a new season called The Black Armory which is the beginning of Bungie’s new Season Pass system. Bungie is striving to change the content release system from what has been the usual waiting game of what seems like forever to get a DLC, to freshly updated and brand new content every three months. Black Armory, Joker’s Wild, and Penumbra will include new types of events, rewards, and activities all inside of an ever-evolving world for players to grow with and tons of content to experience. There will also be new NPCs to meet, such as the mysterious Exo Ada-1 who is pictured in the screenshot for Black Armory and featured in Bungie’s new trailer for the expansion. I also watched a brief video of the new Forge event which pits players against a horde and boss type event reminiscent of Escalation Protocol on Mars. It’s one of the new activities and the good news is that it is available for matchmaking.
There are also the free to all events to be a part of. This is also rumored to be where you will get your new weapons from Black Armory. There is a new full raid that takes place in the ruins of the Last City and is titled Scourge of the Past. This is a new story and separate from the raid lairs and the Last Wish as well. So, along with a new power buff to 650, what the masses had worried about with lack of content after the massive success of Forsaken seems to be looking really good.
The Dawning is about to return for December. The Dawning is a time for celebrating and gifts, also for surprises! The last event was a bit tainted due to little content and microtransactions to get armor sets. I got one full set after grinding and spending every bit of bright dust I could scrounge up. Hopefully this has changed and things will be more accessible to all players. There is also a rumor that the snowball piles from D1 will be re-appearing for use in PVE for bonus damage, which was a heck of a lot of fun back then. If things stay true to tradition there will be daily gifts from Ikora and probably Tess via Eververse.
Currently there is a chase going on for new Pinnacle Weapons this weekend until the reset next week. They are very long and complicated, so unless players have a lot of free time, you may want to pick one and stick to it. The weapons are The Mountaintop a breech loading primary grenade launcher that fires a straight-line shot which is earned in Crucible. The Breakneck auto-rifle can be earned in Gambit and give the weapon rampage and the perk onslaught, which increases fire rate as rampage stacks. It is said to be a PVE monster and what I am currently chasing. Lastly is the fusion rifle Loaded Question that is earned from strikes. It has a bit of a confusing perk called Reservoir Burst that when fully loaded fires a blast with additional damage and causes enemies to explode upon death. These weapons are more of an in between of legendary and an exotic with a unique perk and the grind for them will take awhile each requiring around 50 matches, strikes, and hundreds of kills. Upon completion they come masterworked and ready to roll. Try and have fun with it.
As we as Guardians await Black Armory in a few days with all it’s new events and new full raid remember that there will be all new Triumphs and Collections to complete, so you may want to take the weekend to get up to speed on anything you are missing for a title or badge. It’s also a great time to finish those difficult exotic quests that Forsaken had in store. I said I would report on Malfeasance when I got it, well I finally did and it is amazing. Taken fall dead one after another to this beast and it fires smooth as butter. This is one of my favorite Destiny exotics ever. For all the players that have finished the Last Wish, maybe teach it to somebody new that hasn’t had the chance to experience it. That’s all for now Guardians, get ready for a whole new season and prepare for Black Armory. I hope to see you out there.
Destiny 2: Forsaken is available now for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
