The 2019 World Series hasn’t even started yet, and much like the 28 teams not in that series, Sony’s San Diego Studio is already looking to next season. The developer revealed the cover athlete for MLB The Show 20 today, and the honor goes to Chicago Cubs shortstop Javier Baez. Baez is coming off a stellar 2019 campaign, and definitely earned the right to be featured on the cover of Sony’s iconic sports franchise.

In addition to the cover star announcement, San Diego Studio also revealed the various pre-order bonuses and retail versions, both physical and digital. MLB The Show 20 will be available on March 17, 2020, but certain versions and pre-order bonuses will allow players to get a four-day jump and start playing on March 14.

“I am so honored and excited to be on the cover of MLB The Show 20. I’ll never forget how it felt when I saw myself in the game for the first time (even as a backup!). It was so surreal. Still, it’s one thing to see your virtual self, but it’s completely next level to be on the cover of a game you’ve played and love. Let’s go!” Baez told the PlayStation Blog.

One of the preorder bonuses even gives players a Javy Baez card for use in The Show 19, which is a free game to anyone with a PlayStation Plus membership this month.
