After being announced earlier in the year, the release date for Persona 5 Royal has finally been revealed. The updated title will be launching on March 31st, 2020 for PlayStation 4. A lot of fans were hoping that the critically acclaimed RPG would eventually be released for Nintendo Switch, but Atlus seems to have no plans to do so.
This updated version of Persona 5 will be launching exclusively for PlayStation 4. When Persona 5 launched initially a few years ago it launched alongside a PlayStation 3 version. This outing will include new characters, cutscenes, alternate endings, Personas, and a lot more according to Atlus. I’m really looking forward to Persona 5 Royal, even after sinking over 130 hours into the original release.
Also announced today was a series of different editions that are currently available for preorder. There’s a special edition, launch edition, a couple of digital editions, and a series of DLC that will all be available. The Phantom Thieves Edition is the special edition, and will include a Joker mask with a stand, a steelbook, and art book, a dynamic PS4 theme, and a soundtrack. Persona 5 Royal’s Phantom Thieves Edition can be seen below.
The launch edition of Persona 5 Royal will come with the aforementioned Steelbook and Dynamic theme. The two digital editions that will be available are the Ultimate and Deluxe editions. The Ultimate edition comes with all DLC bundles, and 6 additional costume packs, while the Deluxe Edition comes with the game and the Kasumi costume bundle. There will be some DLC bundles available for purchase at launch too, so keep your eyes peeled with us for full details on those closer to launch.
