It seems like only yesterday that FarmVille was taking the Facebook world by storm. Everybody’s mom was playing it, and things continued to grow from there. Ten years later, Zynga is celebrating the 10th anniversary of FarmVille with a multi-month FarmVille 2 event that includes a new single from Grammy award-winning music star Trisha Yearwood.
The new single in question is called “Every Girl in This Town,” which celebrates “females achieving their potential in every environment,” according to Zynga. The song is perhaps more concerned with dating issues, but encouraging women not to give up on their dreams is definitely in there. According to USA Today, “more than half of Zynga’s players are women,” so the content of the song is an appropriate choice for the game’s anniversary.
Tricia Yearwood had this to say about participating in the FarmVille 2 anniversary event: “…There are shared experiences that endure and bring people together, like those special songs that become anthems or a powerhouse game like FarmVille. I’m proud to now share a new anniversary with Zynga, and had an incredible experience visiting their headquarters, meeting the team, and sharing my own road with other dynamic women in entertainment.”
Later this summer, Tricia Yearwood will appear as an actual farmhand avatar in FarmVille 2: Country Escape. “Evert Girl in This Town” will play in-game while she helps players find items and gain rewards that contribute towards their daily goals. What a good helper she will be. 😀
As for the future of FarmVille, Zynga is also developing a brand new mobile FarmVille that will include new characters and gameplay mechanics. The new game presumably just needs some fertilizer, sunlight, and water before it’s ready to be harvested.
