Looking for the ultimate new X-Men movie pack? You won’t be waiting long. The X-Men Days of Future Past Rogue Cut release date was announced today as July 14, 2015. X-Men Days of Future Past Rogue Cut Blu-ray will include 17 additional minutes of footage.
In a presentation on Periscope TV, X-Men Days of Future Past Rogue Cut Director Bryan Singer said that Rogue, who’s played by Anna Paquin and hasn’t had a major on-screen presence since the first X-Men movie, will get some serious screen time in Rogue Cut. That’s how it got its name, after all.
Singer said that Rogue had originally played a larger role in Days of Future Past, but those scenes were edited out before the film hit theaters. And that, boys and girls, is why Blu-ray releases can be so awesome. When the X-Men Days of Future Past Rogue Cut release date rolls around in mid-July, about 17 minutes of that once-cut footage will make its way back into the film.
According to Singer, this extended version will finally give viewers more insight into what Anna Paquin’s Rogue character has been doing — off-screen, obviously — since X-Men: True Blood faded to black.
The 17 minutes of extra footage won’t be exclusively of Rogue, it seems. It will reportedly also include some new appearances from Jennifer Lawrence and Nicholas Hoult, as well as “some new visual effects.”
For those wondering why the X-Men Days of Future Past Rogue Cut release date is July 14, it’s because that marks the 15th anniversary of the original X-Men movie’s release. It’s kind of appropriate, when you think about it, since Rogue’s been so silent since then.
