Marvel and Sony Studios dropped the newest trailer for Spider-Man: Far From Home today, and suddenly, it makes perfect sense why the Russo brothers called today the last day for Avengers: Endgame spoilers protection. The Spider-Man trailer doesn’t care if you haven’t seen Endgame. It has a job to do.
If you are the one person in the world who hasn’t seen Avengers: Endgame at least once, you might want to stop reading, and you should definitely steer clear of the Spider-Man: Far From Home trailer if you want to remain spoiler free. You’ve been warned.
Still with us? Good. Glad you’re here.
The Spider-Man: Far From Home trailer opens with Peter Parker (Tom Holland) lamenting the loss of his friend and mentor, Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr.). There are quick cuts showing Spider-Man being the hero he always wanted to be, with a few lighthearted moments punctuating the heavy ones. But then the main plot begins to take focus and things are revealed that will change the Marvel Cinematic Universe forever.
The new Spider-Man Trailer not only shows that the film serves as the true closing to the Infinity Saga, but Mysterio’s (Jake Gyllenhaal) origin is even tied to the events of the Avengers films, and opens a Pandora’s box of possibilities going forward, which could explain activated X genes and even give a reason why four fantastic people could end up with powers in the near future. There’s a lot to unpack in a quick two-minute Spider-Man trailer.
Also, Nick Fury (Samuel L. Jackson) has a great line in the teaser.
