I don’t like the new style of the PoP!s Funko is trying to do. The retro 8-bit style. They look hideous and don’t look like PoP! Figures. But they seem relentless in making these figures, and making more and more of them. Most recently to be released in the 8-bit format is Jason Voorhees from Friday the 13th and the Xenomorph alien from the movie Alien.
These figures are actually some of the 8-bit figures that I like. They make sense because both of these had games that came out around this era of gaming. I mean, GameStop is getting an exclusive Jason figure that has him in his purple and blue outfit from the original Friday the 13th video game released on the original NES. So it makes sense to see Jason as an 8-bit figure. As for Alien, I played a game on the Sega Genesis that was based on the game, and it didn’t have the best graphics, but better than the NES at 16-bit. It makes sense. I actually like these figures and may break my rule of not having any 8-bit PoP!s in my collection. If you’re a fan of either the movie or the game, or perhaps even both, then I would snag these PoP!s when you can, especially the GameStop exclusive because it’s pretty and a hilarious callback to not a great game that many people adore.
