Funko Opinion: Teen Titans Go! Wave 2

I bought the first wave of the Teen Titans Go! Funko PoP! figures because I loved the characters I remembered from my childhood in the original Teen Titans TV show. Robin and Raven were always my favorite and the first wave encompassed the characters incredibly well, so I didn’t care that it said Teen Titans Go! on the box art. But now? These new figures really take on the personality of the new animation style and they’re just not for me.

That doesn’t make them bad. You’ve got the main characters dressed as other DC characters and I think that’s pretty clever. But in my mind, these are knock-off characters of the original Teen Titans show I grew up with. But I digress.

So, Robin is Nightwing, makes sense. Robin is also Red X, also makes sense. Starfire as Batgirl I can kind of see since Nightwing and Batgirl were a thing and Robin has a thing for Starfire. Then there is a guy called Mammoth and I have no idea who he is, where he comes from, or why he’s even part of this wave of PoP!s. And they aren’t really the best designs. Starfire’s is actually really boring, and nothing really stands out about them. I will say though that the figures do strongly invoke the style and look of the new cartoon series, so that is a plus. If you’re a fan of DC, maybe think about getting these new Funko PoP!s. If you aren’t or don’t have any interest in anything cartoon or comic related, then these are some you can ignore.

Happy Hunting!
